A scraper has been sent to remove ice from a car’s driveway in the northern city of Hobart.
The car was being driven along the city’s main drag at the time of the incident, which police say occurred last week.
Detective Superintendent Mark Pannock said the driver was “quite distraught” and called police to report the incident.
“He’s got quite a few things to take care of at the moment,” he said.
“We’re hoping for the best.
We’ve got a few more people that we’ve been working with on the road.”
Detective Sergeant Jason Rochford said it was not uncommon for people to encounter ice on their driveways.
“I guess they think they’re doing their job and they just don’t see it coming,” he told 7.30.
Det Sgt Rochfords said he believed the ice had been put there by a scraper, but would not reveal the person or how much the ice was worth.
“That’s the issue, obviously, it’s not a criminal act.
It’s not an act that’s likely to be repeated,” he added.
